HBC Venue Evaluation Site

The Process of finding a new Home...

The goal of this committee is to search, collect information, investigate, and vet possible venues that might be suitable as long-term locations for HBC. The committee will consist of a mixture of players and directors from HBC and will be chaired by Steve Fabian.

The committee chair will send out periodic emails to committee members summarizing our progress and plans. We may, if necessary, schedule online Zoom calls to get together to discuss our progress and talk about any issues or questions you may have.

It is important to remember that these efforts need to be kept somewhat confidential as we do not want our current landlord to know that we are looking for alternative space while still under lease at our current location. Your discretion is appreciated.

Additionally, this committee is an exploratory committee, and no members of this committee are authorized to negotiate or make any commitments on the club's behalf.

Commitee members will be asked to do the following:

  • 1. Gather venue/contact information for potential sites and provide that information to the committee chair. Please do not contact or visit a potential site without first contacting the committee chair. We do not want multiple people contacting the same site.
  • 2. The committee chair will track potential sites, and which committee member will perform each site investigation. This will allow us to maximize coverage while also eliminating duplication of efforts.
  • 3. Once assigned, committee members will then contact the potential site and if necessary, perform an on-site visit to evaluate the site and its potential as a future home of HBC
  • 4. Results from all such evaluations will be sent to the committee chair, and those sites that meet our requirements will be further evaluated.

When evaluating a site as a potential future home for HBC, the following minimum requirements should be considered.
  • 1. The venue should be within, or very close to, the town limits of Hendersonville.
  • 2. A minimum of 3,500 sq feet of open space (not multiple rooms)
  • 3. A paved parking lot with at least 60 spaces
  • 4. The venue should be available as a dedicated/exclusive space to HBC
  • 5. The venue should have sufficient lighting for playing bridge and should include heat/ac to maintain a comfortable playing environment
  • 6. The venue should also include storage space for supplies and additional tables/chairs
  • 7. The venue should be accessible, if the venue has stairs, then there should also be a ramp/elevator that will allow easy access for all players.
  • 8. The venue should include sufficient/gender-separate bathrooms that are handicap accessible (ADA compliant)
  • 9. The venue should include a kitchen area with a refrigerator, or space for a refrigerator. The kitchen area should include sufficient counter space for our coffee maker and sinks for cleaning dishes and coffee pots, and food preparation.
  • 10. The venue should include some office space for a desk and file cabinets for document storage.
  • 11. The rent/lease cost per month should not exceed $2,000/month\

Again, thank you very much for stepping up to help find a permanent home for our club, it is greatly appreciated.
